October 3, 2014, or the first Friday in October, marks the third annual National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day). Three years ago this holiday was designed to expand knowledge about and improve public perception of manufacturing careers and manufacturing’s value to the U.S. economy. To celebrate, companies and organizations around the U.S. have ‘joined the movement’ and created local events to acknowledge the contributions of manufacturing.
Based on the success of last year’s Forging New Perceptions Of Careers panel discussion at ADX, OMEP (a network member of the National Manufacturing Extension Partnership) is proud to present a larger selection of Manufacturing Day events in Oregon this year. These events provide an opportunity for our local manufacturers, including many that OMEP has had the privilege to work with, to open their doors to people of all ages to show what manufacturing in Oregon really means.
From school-organized facility tours to OMEP’s American Made Movie panel discussion, these events cover all aspects of manufacturing, allowing future generations to go behind the scenes or provide a line of communication to address the issues affecting the whole industry.
Whether you are a student looking for a career, a professional, or an Oregonian with your own manufacturing story, there are several great free local MFG Day events to check out. Find all the details at our new website!
