A plan to commercialize a novel patient litter has been laid out and accepted by the U.S. Navy.
Composite Approach, a designer and manufacturer of advanced composite structures in Redmond, Oregon, announced Thursday that it signed a patent license agreement with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana.
The tech transfer deal allows the company to carry forward with the manufacturing and sales of a unique folding stretcher for evacuating injured persons.
The stretcher, which folds up for compact storage, was invented at the Navy lab and then protected by U.S. Patent 10,632,030, a 20-year utility patent.
“We’re excited to bring our skillset to final product development and get this ingenious design to the marketplace where military or non-military customers can get it,” said Brian Nicholson, the company’s business development manager.
