Curious About Apprenticeships in Machining and Welding? Don’t Miss This Event!
Home 9 Business Financials & Strategy 9 Curious About Apprenticeships in Machining and Welding? Don’t Miss This Event!

Are you a metals manufacturer? Looking for machinists and welder fabricators? Can’t find them?

Are you curious about apprenticeships? What are they? How can they help you train machinists and welder fabricators at your company?

Portland Community College and the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center (OMIC) Training Center has been leading the development of State-registered apprenticeship programs in Machining, CNC Lathe Operator, CNC Mill Operator, and Welding/Fabrication and is inviting you to learn more about these programs at their upcoming Registered Apprenticeship 101 event on Friday, June 28th.

These apprenticeship programs have been developed with the input of local manufacturers. These manufacturers have crafted apprenticeship requirements and standards to ensure that these apprenticeships are achievable, relevant, and valuable to companies that face workforce gaps in these areas.

Now that the apprenticeship standards and requirements have been developed, these programs are ready for new apprentices! How can you implement these apprenticeship programs at your company? By becoming a registered Training Agent. Training Agents pay a small monthly administration fee per apprentice and subsidize apprentice education expenses. In return, Training Agents will have well-trained, journey-level employees on their team! These apprentices gain valuable transferrable skills and knowledge to boost their careers. If you are wondering if an apprenticeship program might be a good option for your company, don’t miss the Apprenticeship Lunch n’ Learn. To sign up for this event, RSVP to apprenticeship@pcc.edu
